Domestic Violence Family Seminar
11 August 2021 11.00 am - 12.30 pm

Uma Menon and Fiona Zhou hosted an online zoom seminar on Domestic Family Violence (DFV) where you could hear from experts about the types of DV, how to respond to different DV situations,  DV updates, DV procedures, and how to reach out to your local referral services. This took place on 11 August 2021, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.

The speakers included Trudy Wilson, from Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Services, and Domestic Violence Officer, Senior Constable Malcolm Baker with Q&A.

This seminar was in collaboration with Ku-ring-gai PAC, WSHK, and KNC.

Vote of thanks by Mala Mehta OAM:

On behalf of the WSHK Board, our executive and our volunteers, I would like to thank Senior Constable Malcolm Baker, Domestic Violence Officer from Ku-ring-gai PAC and Trudy Wilson, Specialist Worker from Northern Sydney Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service for their most informative presentations and also to Peter Kirkwood OAM, Board Member WSHK and President PCYC for his excellent rendition of the didgeridoo. I would also like to acknowledge the presence of Councillor Joseph Nicita Hornsby Shire Council for making time to attend this seminar.

An event like this cannot happen overnight. The wheels start rolling months ago as it requires meticulous and extensive planning and execution.

I extend our grateful thanks to Fiona Yanfang Zhou, Multicultural Community Liaison Officer, Ku-ring-gai Police Area Command, Uma Menon, Board Member WSHK, NSW CALD Community Engagement Coordinator, KNC and Chair Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Multicultural Network and our young volunteers without whom this event would not have been possible.

Finally, in conclusion, let me express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to you our wonderful members, guests and all our board members who have turned up in such overwhelming numbers. Thank you so much for making time to attend and for your continued support.
